A message of hope to Obama cultists

Free yourselves.

Obama cultists: free yourselves.

Shed those chains of compliance and apathy. Walk free.

I’m not here to attack you. I’m here to reach out with a joyful message of hope. I’m also not here to tell you to become a Republican. I’m not a Republican; I’m proudly and aggressively unaffiliated with any political party. And I know your immediate, visceral, instinctual reaction, when someone challenges you or your Leader, is to shout, “BUT YOU DIDN’T SAY THIS WHEN BUSH DID [xyz]!” Well, I was a kid when Bush came into office, but for what it’s worth, I did criticize many of his actions and policies. When he signed the No Child Left Behind Act, for instance, I was vociferously opposed. And I let everyone at the lunch table know about it.

So, I’ve disarmed your only defense mechanisms. You can’t bring Republicans into this one, because I’m not a Republican. You can’t hit me with the “you didn’t say this when Bush did…” routine, because I did say it. I’ve taken your only shield, and now you stand before me; naked, exposed.

Wait. Stop. Don’t run. This, my friends, is an intervention. For over five years you’ve danced on the sidelines and cheered as the most dishonest, manipulative, destructive, narcissistic, incompetent, corrupt, liberty-hating, anti-constitutional president in US history ran roughshod over the American people and the American way of life. For over five years, my fellow countrymen, you’ve waved your pompoms for a tyrant. Your Leader is not a good man. He can be redeemed, as we can all be redeemed, but his actions have been truly heinous. Remember: I don’t say that because I’m a Republican. I do not say it because I’m a Bush fan. I say it because it’s true; and it’s a truth that is entirely unavoidable.

Stop… No, stop right there. I can already hear you: “But.. but… but a lot of presidents have done bad things.” Yes, yes they have. But we’re talking about THIS president right now. And, it just so happens, THIS president has done things that no other president would have dreamed of doing.

Listen, I’m concerned about you. I did some research this morning, which brought me to a website called CultClinic.org. This is a site that’s supposed to help the family and friends of cult members. I perused for a bit and found a list of Warning Signs That Someone Might Be In A Cult:

•Thinking in black and white terms

•Using a new language/cultic jargon

•Saying goodbye to all old friends and only seeing people affiliated with, or not critical of the cult

•Creating distance from family, especially during holidays and family events

•Euphoric, yet simultaneously tired and worn

•Humorless

•A change in diet and sleep patterns

•Low on money

•Poor grades

•A dismissal of their life prior to involvement with the group as “all bad”

•A change in goals, priorities, and life plan

•Return to child-like behavior

•Dogmatic adherence to new beliefs/ideas, with the inability, or lack of interest to logically assess these new beliefs

•Secrecy

Good Lord. It’s worse than I thought. Obama Cultists exhibit all of these traits.

Thinking in black and white terms? Check. Obama Cultists literally see everything as a racial black and white issue (which is why they’ll leave comments under this post accusing me of racism). Using new jargon? Triple check. In a recent example, an Obama supporter told me that all of the people who are getting their insurance canceled aren’t “losing” it — they’re being “transitioned.” All of that stuff about alienating family members? Check, but it’s worse than that. The modern progressive wishes to alienate not just his own family, but the very institution itself. Euphoric, yet tired and worn? Check. Can you think of any better description of the “hope and change” routine from 2008? Humorless? Checkcheckcheckcheckcheck. Huge, massive, gigantic check. A change in diet? Check. Just talk to Michelle about that. Low on money? Check. No president has expanded the Welfare State more than this one. Poor grades? Well, admittedly, the aforementioned No Child Left Behind Act makes this one a moot point. A dismissal of life prior to joining cult? N/A. Hardly anyone ever goes from conservative to progressive. The transformation almost always works the other way around. So, in other words, if someone is a progressive, they’ve likely been one their whole life. They’ll remain in that condition until they grow up. A change in priorities and goals? Check. Isn’t that the very mission of progressivism? Return to child like behavior? Check. Well, except for the “return” part. Dogmatic adherence to beliefs? CHECK. A billion times, check. Secrecy? Check. But the secrecy is on Obama’s part, and his followers dutifully make excuses for it.

This is a chilling reality. I’ve always referred to Obama supporters as “cultists,” but, for a while, I merely meant it pejoratively. Then I began to realize that the term is literally true. Sure, Jim Jones persuaded 900 people to drink cyanide, whereas Obama had trouble convincing six people to buy health insurance from him. But let us not assume that Obama’s Cult Leader powers have diminished. He ain’t much of an insurance salesman, but the man has brainwashing methods that would make Lyndon LaRouche jealous.

The Obama Cultist often accuses me of criticizing his Leader without presenting “specifics” and “evidence.” Here’s how the conversation usually works:

Me: Obama lied and said we’d all be able to keep our insurance plans!

Obama Cultist: You’re the liar! When did Obama ever say that?

Me: Here’s over 20 video clips of Obama saying exactly that.

Obama Cultist: … OH YEAH?! WELL WHERE WERE THE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION?!

No, really, every single conversation I’ve ever had with any Obama Cultist has followed a trajectory very similar to this.

So, Obama Cultist, it’s just you and me right now. Nobody else. Pull the blindfold off. Pull it off for just a moment. I’m going to give you your specifics. I’m going to specifically explain why Obama is a liar and a tyrant. Read this next part like a rational adult. Read it like someone who wants the truth. I won’t tell on you. Your secret is safe with me. And, at the end, if you want to go back into that mental cave of submission, fear and blind allegiance — I won’t try to stop you. But crawl out for a moment. Just a moment. And consider the specifics.

Obama is a liar because:

-He sold his health care plan by GUARANTEEING, on MULTIPLE occasions, that you can KEEP your plan if you like it. He could not have passed the legislation through Congress, or sold it the American people, without saying this. But it was a lie. A bold faced lie. It was a statement presented as truth, despite the fact that it wasn’t true — i.e. a “lie.” Whatever you think about the ACA, it is a profoundly impactful law that will alter all of our lives in serious ways. A good, honest and moral man would never sell something such as this by lying about it. He did. He lied. There is no way around it. He said you can keep your plan if you like it, when, in fact, the law DEPENDS on you NOT being able to keep your plan if you like it. That’s a lie. A terrible, awful, no-good lie, uttered by a terrible, awful no-good man.

-Watch this. “No more spying on American citizens.” Do you know what we call that when stated by the man who is in charge while the government actually spies on every single citizen? A lie. Not a “misrepresentation” or an “inaccuracy” — a lie. Plain and simple.

This is a doozy. He lies, like, seven times in under two minutes. But watch him as he unleashes this battery of bull crap. He has no intention of doing any of these thing, and he didn’t do any of these things, yet he lies to 300 million people without flinching. Even Obama’s pals in the left wing press have dubbed his regime the most “closed, control freak” administration in American history. Do you know what you need to be good at if you want to run a closed, control freak White House? Lying.

-My favorite brand of Obama Lie is when he says something on camera, and then later denies having said the thing that we all saw and heard him say. Here’s a good example. Obama, August 12, 2012: “A red line for us, is the use of chemical weapons” in Syria. Obama, September 4, 2013: “I didn’t set a red line.” Bro, seriously?

These are classic Obama lies because they also mix in a healthy dose of cowardice. Dozen of meetings and briefings every day, but he claims he finds out what his administration is really up to by watching CNN. Way to lie AND insult the intelligence of every American, Mr. President.

-Of course there’s the Throwback Obama lies, like when he covered up his connection to Acorn, or his church, or Tony Rezko. There’s the Obama Theatrics Lies, where he closes down privately funded monuments, or ends White House tours (which are run by volunteers) to make some sort of point about a shut down he caused, or a sequester he specifically planned. There’s the Obama Scandal Lies, which we’ll delve into in the next chapter. There’s the standard Broken Campaign Promise Lie, such as the stories he told about his “intention” to close Gitmo or end the wars overseas or repeal the Patriot Act (which he’s repeatedly renewed). Or breaking his promise to not hire any lobbyists, by hiring at least 40 lobbyists to work in his administration. There’s the Diversion Lie, which isn’t a direct lie, but a dishonest attempt to distract from important issues by making a national story out of a radio host insulting some chick at Georgetown, or an obscure 5th string NBA player coming out of the closet, or a local police matter in Sanford, Florida. Obama lies come in many forms, but probably the biggest lie he ever told is this.

You see, I only call the man a liar because he is, in fact, a pathological, calculating, cheating, scamming, liar. I call him a liar because he is a liar. Not because BUSH. Or because REPUBLICAN. Or because RACISM. But because the man lies like he breathes.

Obama is a tyrant because:

-He has ordered 326 drone strikes in Pakistan, killing hundreds of women and children. Tack on another few hundred in Yemen, Libya and Somalia. Perhaps this is why, according to a new book, he bragged about being “really good at killing people.”

-Obama has a “Kill List,” where he keeps track of his extrajudicial murders. He assassinated an American citizen without charge or trial. A few weeks later, he had that citizen’s 16 year old son killed for no apparent reason. When his press secretary was asked why Obama murdered an American teenager, he responded that the child “should have had a more responsible father.”

-Obama attacks the evil “one percenters,” but has received more money from Wall Street than any president in the last two decades.

-His IRS targeted conservative groups during the 2012 election cycle. This effectively handicapped his opposition and silenced many of his most passionate enemies.

-Obama has armed and/or funded drug cartels in Mexico, terrorists in Libya, savage child murderers in Syria, and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.

-When his gun running operation from Libya to Syria went sideways, and his ambassador was under siege in Benghazi, those that could have helped were ordered to stand down. Then we were told lie after lie, with the administration still, to this day, failing to come clean about why the stand down order was given, why the compound was attacked in the first place, what Obama was doing on the night of the attack, and why they ever claimed a YouTube video had anything to do with any of this.

-Obama’s Justice Department spied on the Associated Press and threatened to prosecute a Fox News journalist for reporting on a story.

-He’s funneled billions of dollars to banks and corporations, under the guise of “bailouts.”

-He’s purged the military of commanders that don’t align with his political ideology.

-Many of his agencies, from the VA, to the IRS, to the GSA, have stolen tax money to splurge on boozy parties, trips to Disney World, and “conferences” at swanky resorts.

-His HHS secretary has solicited “donations” from companies and corporations that will be regulated under Obamacare.

-His NSA apparently spies on everyone in the galaxy, including, but not limited to, all American citizens, foreign allies, and the Pope.

-He gave tax money to campaign contributors, and then called it an “investment” in a green energy company. The company summarily went bankrupt.

-His administration has aggressively prosecuted whistleblowers, even going so far as to institute the “Insider Threat Program,” which encourages government employees to spy on each other.

You see, I only call him a tyrant because he is, in fact, a murdering, stealing, lying, despotic tyrant. Not because BUSH. Or because REPUBLICAN. Or because RACISM. But because he is an abhorrent, abominable dictator.

I’m trying to appeal to you, Obama Cultists, so I didn’t even mention the most nefarious aspects of this man: his pro-abortion extremism. He’s given more tax money to the abortion industry than any other president. He still stands, I believe, as the only US president to ever wish “blessings” on a room full of wealthy abortionists. He’s so in love with abortion that he opposed a bill that would have protected BORN INFANTS from being “aborted” after delivery. His refusal to protect the most helpless among us makes him a spineless, gutless scoundrel of the lowest order, but I won’t include that charge in this deposition. I realize, as Obama Cultists, you’re probably rather fond of this “procedure,” so it’s useless in this debate. Go here and here to understand why you’re wrong on this subject.

In any case, let’s not allow our moment of unity to be derailed at the very end. You must understand, Obama Cultists, I am here because I worry for you. I want you to shrug off this self-imposed burden that forces you to make apologies for the criminalities and tyrannies of a narcissistic bureaucrat. You need not weigh yourselves down with such a responsibility.

Free yourselves. You made a mistake with this Obama guy. It’s OK, we all make mistakes. Admit it, apologize, and let’s move on.

Amen?

  1. What8wasfor says:

If you really hope to convince Obama supporters, name-calling is not the way to do it. If you want to make a difference in people’s hearts and minds, yowling for the echo chamber is not the way to do it. I have a feeling that you can do better than calling the President a liar (liarliarliarliarliar) over (and over and over and over) again. (By the way, we get it, without the gratuitous repeats.) And the repeated reference to cults just sounds like you are trying to pick a fight. It does not help your point. It makes you sound churlish. And reasonable people will just discount you and go read something else.

    • Jonathan says:

The “reasonable people” would have seen Obama for what he was after the first four years of disaster and not voted for him again.

    • Terry says:

I dont get it. He did lie. Are we not supposed to say that? Are we going to get in trouble? It is the truth. I guess the Emporer does have clothes on.

    • TheMumster says:

You have got to be kidding me! Have you never heard of sarcasm? Matt, has used his skills and knowledge to point out the very obvious problems with our dictator-in-charge and all you can say is he is wrong in his application of free speech? If you “get it” why do you support it? If you think he is “trying to pick a fight” defend yourself. You don’t because you can’t. The facts are clear, Obama is a tyrant and a liar and you are a deceived member of his cult.

    • Raven says:

you have just proven yourself to be among the obama cult, your argument is invalid. he calls Obama a liar, because he showed you with evidence the numerous times he has outright lied, and isn’t the definition of a liar, one who lies? well…if obama has been proven to lie, that would make him a liar, and therefor, this man isn’t simply “calling names” he is stating a fact that most of the Obamabots refuse to acknowledge. maybe he figures if he says it enough times, it might actually sink IN…did you stop to think about that for a second? because from MY experience with the people he is trying to get through to here…they tend to be among the most close minded, and rather ignorant people i have ever talked to. maybe he figures, repeating it over and over is the only way they will learn. stop picking apart the WAY he chose to make his point, and at least acknowledge that he has VERY effectively MADE his point with EVIDENCE, and FACTS…oh…wait…I forgot…the Obama Cults are afraid of facts, MY BAD! I keep forgetting the facts tend to discredit all of the Obamabot’s arguments, so therefor they won’t read or pay attention to them in order to keep themselves in their little fantasy land.

“Bush lied, people died.” Sound familiar? The difference with this guy’s blog post is that he didn’t say liar, liar about the same lie repeatedly. He presented many lies and called each lie what it is. This argument you make is hypocritical unless you were saying the same thing about the ENDLESS repetition about Bush supposedly lying about Iraq.

Pointing out multiple lies, the manner in which the lie was presented, and the manner in which the liar dodges being called out on the lie could potentially convince people that weren’t emotionally tied to the liar. His target audience has to be intellectually honest for that to work though. His point about cultists was an appeal to have Obama supporters check themselves to see if they are blindly following the guy. If they can be intellectually honest with themselves about that, they can then move on to each of the lies individually and then again to the whole body of lies that paint a more complete character picture.

Anecdotally speaking, most liberals I know are fully aware about him being a liar and just don’t care. All that matters is that the Utopian statist dream is furthered.

    • Laura Lee says:

May I just say that reasonable people wouldn’t have voted for Obama the second time, so this seems to be the only way to get through because speaking intelligently hasn’t worked so far. He is a liar point in fact they have him on public tv saying if you like your insurance you will get to keep it not once but 29 times. This is just one of the many lies but some just don’t get it. i just read another blog and it just scares me that there are so many mindless blind followers of obama.

      • Don says:

Many people are afraid to be independent. They are followers and so naturally gravitate to the left. The right is led by independent people and dont attract followers per say.

    • Inez W says:

To What8wasfor, I disagree with every statement you made. Someone needs to speak up and Matt does a great job of speaking….clearly speaking the truth.

    • George says:

….the problem is most reasonable people did NOT vote for Obama!

    • I thought about what ‘What’ says before, and decided that coo-cooing the 0bama-supporters that they are – indeed – selfless, brilliant, paragons of goodness who were misled by a brilliant uniter who was led down the dark path by the GOP much as anakin skywalker was led down the dark path by a lousy movie, then decided: why lie to them? I steer my ship towrds the truth. One can’t grow spiritually – or whatever commies use in terms of spirituality – if they perform no introspection.

What8wasfor, Alinsky tactics ? really ? Do yourself a favor and put down the obama kool Aid .

  4. Terry says:

Awesome article. You are a great writer. It is refreshing that a “millennial” can speak the truth. I hope you dont get a call from the IRS

  5. Joseph Newcomer says:

Black and white, fight, fight! Black and white, fight, fight! Black and white, fight, fight! Thank God for 52 shades of gray; or, better still, rainbows.

    • Laura Lee says:

The only black and white fight here are the mindless people who are black or white that blindly follow obama. I really don’t care what color Obama claims to be he is half of each so there is really no race issue here. I heard that congress is affraid to impeach him because he is black well I say impeach the white half the black half will just have to follow the white half.

      • TheMumster says:

Laura Lee – In fact for all I care they could just hang the white half and hope the other half gets the message!

  6. First of all, like you say, I support Obama, and I don’t come here to say “what about Bush” (though I would have good reason to), I don’t come here accusing you of racism (though you can’t deny it is prevalent now) and I don’t come here asking you about joining the Republicans, or the tea party, or any of that crap. My question is, where do we go from here? What grand plan do you have? If your ideas are so superior, are you going to run for election? If not, why not? You seem to have everything figured out, right?

    • Puhleeze! says:

How, pray tell, has he revealed himself to be a prevalent racist when he not once mentioned the color of Obama’s skin or culture?? Unless you’re implying that it is Obama’s skin color is the root source of his deceit… In which case, doesn’t that make YOU the racist?

    • Don says:

Yes, racism is prevalent now. Black on white racism. Haven’t you been paying attention. Every day blacks are killing whites for racial reasons and the MSM covers it up and yet all the Left can point to is Trayvon Martin where a hispanic male is guilty of not being willing to die at the hands of a black thug. Where do we go from here, you ask? How about back to the constutuition, how about back to liberty and individual accountability. But I doubt there is any hope for you. Like you said, you still support Obama despite all of the provable offenses he has committed. By the way, max liberty with the smallest federal government worked perfectly until the progs and socialists started imposing their will on everyone. One hundred years ago we had virtually no taxes, had the largest and most affluent middle class in the world and mom could stay home if she desired. Progressives have brought us to this point. So, to answer your question, the plan is unravel all the wreckage the Left has caused. If you truly cared about race, you would understand that the Left has killed the black family with its racist welfare system. Blacks went from the cotton plantation to the welfare plantation, which is not surprising considering it was the Left that owned the slaves and fought bitterly to keep slavery a southern instituition. But that is just it, and why you don’t get it. It is not the job of the federal government to be meddling in the lives of the citizens because it has no idea what is best for the individual.

    • Cato says:

Always the “if you don’t like this policy, what would you replace it with?” logic. What do you replace a fire with when you put it out?

Where we go from here ought to be evident to most of us, get back to the Constitution, either abolish or demote to the state level every function not expressly mentioned in it. This would do wonders for getting a lot of the money and power out of politics, while still leaving us with a functional, proven government.

    • john says:

Funny how you just did ALL the things you “didn’t come here to do” in a slightly cowardly and backhanded manner….. For starters, you can NOT vote based on pigmentation. Admit it, that’s exactly why you voted for Obama, twice.

  7. Terry Ryan says:

“He has ordered 326 drone strikes in Pakistan, killing hundreds of women and children. ”

Matt Walsh, why you lying, bro?

    http://natsec.newamerica.net/drones/pakistan/analysis

It is actually 367 strikes, not 326. Why are you lying? And while there have been hundreds of civilians killed, there is no data on whether there have been hundreds of “women and children.” Where’s your source for that claim? Lying on that one too?

“When his press secretary was asked why Obama murdered an American teenager, he responded that the child ‘should have had a more responsible father.'”

Matt…bro…the actual quote is “should have a far more responsible father”. Why you lying? Why are you peddling this context-free half-truth as truth? You know what they call half-truths where I come from? Lies. You seem to do that a lot. You present quotes completely absent of context, and pretend that they mean something outside of the context they were intended. In fact, that seems to be your entire M.O.

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/mar/07/rand-paul/rand-paul-challenges-obama-spokesmans-comment-son-/

“Obama attacks the evil “one percenters,” but has received more money from Wall Street than any president in the last two decades. ”

Dude, Obama can’t receive money from them. That’s illegal. Duh. His campaign did. Why are you lying about it? You’re a lying liar.

“His IRS targeted conservative groups during the 2012 election cycle. This effectively handicapped his opposition and silenced many of his most passionate enemies. ”

LOL. If by “targeted” you mean “enforced the law” regarding political organizations and tax-emempt status, and if by “effectively handicapped” and “silenced” you mean “experienced no effect whatsoever” then the above is a true statement. Since you don’t mean that, you’re just a liar.

” his ambassador was under siege in Benghazi, those that could have helped were ordered to stand down.”

Liar Liar, Pants on Fire. Why you bald-faced lying, bro?

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2013/may/14/jason-chaffetz/rep-jason-chaffetz-says-special-forces-ready-save-/

“He’s so in love with abortion that he opposed a bill that would have protected BORN INFANTS from being “aborted” after delivery.”

Oooooh, that’s a doozy, liar. He opposed it because there was already an existing law that provided that protection. You always leave out the important context. That’s called lying.

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2008/oct/09/bornalivetruth-org/abortion-survivor-would-have-been-protected-under-/

I’m tired of disproving your lies, and I’m not even half done. I think I’ve shown that you, Matt Walsh, are a liar.

If a liar calls the president a liar…..what does that mean? Hmmm.

    • TheMumster says:

Ya, and i thunk his spellin an grammer is sumtimes bad 2. He must be wrong.

      • Terry Ryan says:

Gosh, you’re right. There’s no reason to believe that someone who lies about so many other things would be lying about the president being a liar. That makes perfect sense.

    • Olo says:

Oh how quaint, an attempt to debunk, by also leaving out context. Also a few of you debunks are completely irrelevant. Even with context, the point about ‘should have had a more responsible father.’” is even at a stretch, wrong.

Your point about drone strikes? Gratz bro, hes done more then the OP originally listed. Woman and children? Oh ya, sorry forgot to install the CSI bot into those drones to check and see how many LN’s were killed in from those missile blasts. Move along little sheep, be ever so excited that we kill from a distance with drones that have no real regulations involved to stop misuse.

Benghazi? Sorry bud, you can spin it all you want(or sorry you didnt actually, you just called him a liar and used a 9 month old article to support you claim) we know people were on ground, we know we could have done something your talking about the middle east. Theres more military assets there in anywhere else(sides CONUS).

Not to mention they already did a piece on this, the Brits were down the street, and offered to help.

What else, oh you forgot to say crap about firing high ranking military leaders, thats right cause there is no debunking that…

Ah and my favorite, the IRS.

You like living in a country that this happens, fine, be happy that it happens now with the current Adiministration. We wary when a Righty gets in and uses the same tactics. Wont be so hip to defend it then eh.

Also, as I’ll point out to the OP, if your going to debunk use newer source material. This is the internet, its all there. Just because your stuck believing what you want to believe doesn’t mean you can leave out the newest information.

      • Terry Ryan says:

“Even with context, the point about ‘should have had a more responsible father.’” is even at a stretch, wrong.”

What he claimed Gibbs said was incorrect. Gibbs did not say the words he claimed he said. That makes him a liar, by his own standard. Is that not the standard to which he, and you, are holding the president? Certainly you don’t advocate holding the president to standards that you don’t hold yourself and others to as well? That would be hypocrisy. Are you, and Matt Walsh, hypocrites?

“Your point about drone strikes? Gratz bro, hes done more then the OP originally listed. ”

Exactly. The number of strikes that the author claims is incorrect. That makes him a liar, by his own standard.

“Oh ya, sorry forgot to install the CSI bot into those drones to check and see how many LN’s were killed in from those missile blasts. ”

You might want to tell Matt Walsh, as he is the one claiming that he knows how many women and children were killed, not me. Did you not comprehend that? Might want to re-read everything.

“Benghazi? Sorry bud, you can spin it all you want(or sorry you didnt actually, you just called him a liar and used a 9 month old article to support you claim) we know people were on ground, we know we could have done something your talking about the middle east.”

Um, I actually cited evidence proving the claim wrong. You are citing nothing. That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. Dismissing your factless, unsubstantiated bleating.

“What else, oh you forgot to say crap about firing high ranking military leaders, thats right cause there is no debunking that…”

I didn’t say crap about it because it is nothing of note. Again, that which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. There is zero evidence….ZERO….that they were fired for political ideology. Call me when there is a shred.

“You like living in a country that this happens, fine, be happy that it happens now with the current Adiministration. We wary when a Righty gets in and uses the same tactics. Wont be so hip to defend it then eh. ”

Uh, when what happens? The law is enforced? If you don’t like the law, call your representative. I, for one, believe that the law should be enforced. And what, exactly, came of it? Not a single group was denied tax-exempt status. Not…ONE. OMG! Tyranny! Not only that, it wasn’t just conservative groups that were examined, but progressive groups as well. Or did you not know that?

“Also, as I’ll point out to the OP, if your going to debunk use newer source material. This is the internet, its all there. Just because your stuck believing what you want to believe doesn’t mean you can leave out the newest information.”

LOL. You didn’t provide ANY source material. Spare me your sanctimonious lecture. Physician, heal thyself.

    • Sarah says:

The IRS most certainly did target conservative groups specifically, dragging out the process of getting tax-exempt status, which limited their ability to use donated funds and work effectively, as well as plan for the future. The IRS asked them for mounds of paperwork that others were not asked for, meaning that members of the group had to spend a lot of additional time putting together information instead of actually doing their jobs. And while some progressive groups were targeted as well, the targeting was much more severe on the conservative groups. It’s also a lie that no conservative group was denied status. According to this article on NPR (I made sure I got a nice liberal article so that you can’t claim conservative bias), the committee investigating this discovered that all progressive groups were ultimately approved and only 46% of conservative groups were: http://www.npr.org/blogs/itsallpolitics/2013/07/30/207080580/report-irs-scrutiny-worse-for-conservatives

      • Terry Ryan says:

        Nice try, Sarah.

” It’s also a lie that no conservative group was denied status.”

Really? Name a single one. Just one. Bet you can’t. You know why? Because NONE were denied status. The ONLY groups that were denied tax-exempt status were progressive groups tied to the umbrella group called “Emerge America.” That makes you a liar, Sarah.

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_IRS_scandal

“According to this article on NPR (I made sure I got a nice liberal article so that you can’t claim conservative bias)”

        1) NPR is not liberal. It’s fact-based. Conservatives often confuse the two.

        2) Apparently you didn’t even read the article, because it is a report on the REPUBLICAN HOUSE MAJORITY analysis of a cherry-picked group of 111 applications to the IRS. Yeah, no conservative bias there. You’re either very very bad at reading comprehension, or you think you’re dealing with an idiot.

“the committee investigating this discovered that all progressive groups were ultimately approved and only 46% of conservative groups were:”

Here’s another way of stating that:

        7 progressive groups were approved
        48 conservative groups were approved

In other words, nearly 700% more conservative groups were approved than progressive groups.

And that is in a deeply flawed “study”, as Sander Levin notes in the article you claim as evidence but didn’t read:

“The Republican analysis makes no mention of the time period of applications reviewed, no mention of whether they were the same applications reviewed by TIGTA [Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration] in connection with the audit, and no mention of the fact that there are terms that reflect liberal organizations other than ‘progressive.’ What’s more, it doesn’t disclose the overall number of conservative groups — compared with liberal groups — who applied for tax-exempt status.”

Gosh, it’s almost as if the Republicans in the House are trying to advance a particular narrative, in contrast to reality. Hmmm.

Progressive groups, and key words were used to target organizations, right along with conservative keywords, and group names. This includes groups with “Emerge” in their names, and “ACORN successors”. In fact, a powerpoint used to instruct IRS screeners had images of both a donkey and an elephant on it. That’s just the facts, Sarah:

      • TheMumster says:

I have stopped arguing with this nut. He misquotes, twists meanings, out-right lies, and is otherwise is fully messed up. I think it best to let him enjoy the fruits of his stance.

        • Terry Ryan says:

“I have stopped arguing with this nut. He misquotes, twists meanings, out-right lies, and is otherwise is fully messed up. I think it best to let him enjoy the fruits of his stance.”

LOL. You stopped arguing with me because I repeatedly showed you to be a know-nothing. Who are you trying to fool, Mumster? The whole conversation is right there for everyone to see. You can’t name a single supposed lie that I told. And quoting your *exact words* and then proving you to be flat wrong, with substantiated evidence, is not “twisting” meanings.

You ain’t foolin’ anybody, Mumster. Better cut your losses. Cut ‘n’ run, Mumster. Cut ‘n’ run.

      • Therein lies your problem Mumster. You were trying to argue, not debate. 😉

        • TheMumster says:

Oh, I just have to reply to this. You idiot “argue” is not a vehement action.

          From dictionary.reference.com:

          ar·gue [ahr-gyoo] Show IPA verb, ar·gued, ar·gu·ing.

          verb (used without object)
          1. to present reasons for or against a thing: He argued in favor of capital punishment.
          2. to contend in oral disagreement; dispute: The Senator argued with the President about the new tax bill.

          verb (used with object)
3.to state the reasons for or against: The lawyers argued the case.
          4. to maintain in reasoning: to argue that the news report must be wrong.
5.to persuade, drive, etc., by reasoning: to argue someone out of a plan.
6.to show; prove; imply; indicate: His clothes argue poverty.

Thus, to debate is to argue. If you understood the meanings of words you and Ryan might start making some sense and have something worth commenting about. However, I am sure that if either of you had a basic education you would be on the opposite side of this “ARGUMENT.”

        • Terry Ryan says:

“However, I am sure that if either of you had a basic education you would be on the opposite side of this “ARGUMENT.””

LOL. Seriously Mumster? You, who doesn’t know the name of the law, what grandfathering is, and what plans are eligible for grandfathering, are going to lecture ANYONE on education?

You, who thinks the law wasn’t declared constitutional by the SCOTUS, are going to lecture people on education?

What exactly are your educational credentials, Mumster? Dropout? Don’t let your mouth write a check your butt can’t cash. You really wanna measure educational credentials? You sure you’re gonna come out on top in that contest?

Shayn Roby’s Take: Matt Walsh breaks down the lies and deception of the tyrant, Barack Hussein Obama accurately. Before, Obama stepped into the White House, the name Bill Clinton was synonymous with the term “liar”. It’s possible that our current Commander-In-Chief may have have managed to even eclipse the less than truthful reputation of Slick Willie himself. That in itself is an amazing feat.

  10. Troy M. says:

I found it quite interesting that the signs that you are joining a cult reminded me so much of when I joined the military. Oh, and by the way, Matt Walsh, I am one of those elusive unicorns that started out as a conservative and became progressive. How did that happen? I opened my eyes and noticed the world around me.

Anyway, I thought I would tell you because I am sure the majority of your impartial readers (and 100% of O-cultist readers) didn’t click on any of the links and 99% of the comments are going to be from the O-cultists telling you what a racist you are and how “mean” you are for using the word “liar” about someone who lies

Very nice article Matt – and I have to admit some of the liberal comments to it are very humorous. Keyboard Kommando Terry Ryan – do you really think your hyper-aggressive nitpicking and confrontational writing style wins arguments? Your entire first comment is like a child’s taunt – “Obama’s rubber and Matt Walsh is glue, if Matt calls Obama a liar it bounces off him and sticks to you!” You can dissect every word in this article, and argue over every sentence six ways to Sunday, but you can’t change the fact that Obama lied to us all on multiple occasions about multiple subjects. If you can’t admit that Obama is a liar, then you are obviously the type of cult member Matt is talking about, and as long as you continue to deny reality your comments cannot be taken seriously.

    • TheMumster says:

Tidemonster – Now you’re in for it. Ryan is going to attack you with his lies, twisted logic, logical fallacies, invented claims, and then claim his superiority over you and your comments as if he has actually won. I ignore him now and of course to him that means he won. Oh crap, I’ve mentioned his name again so no doubt he’ll be posting in my direction. Moron’s can be amusing but I think this one just likes being a pain in the butt.

      • Terry Ryan says:

“Moron’s can be amusing but I think this one just likes being a pain in the butt.”

LOL. Hey Mumster, next time you want to call someone a moron, it would help if your spelling of the word “Morons” (note I used the correct spelling) didn’t demonstrate for all to see exactly who the moron is.

Just a little tip for ya. I’m feeling magnanimous.

      • Just remember “Mum’s the word”. You’d sound a lot more intelligent if you stopped flapping that piece of flesh you call lips.

        • TheMumster says:

“You can keep your plan if you like your plan. Period” – Obama
“I’m sorry if you thought I said you could keep your plan if you like your plan, I will try to see that you are not hurt by your misunderstanding” – Obama (paraphrased)
“I will veto any “You can keep your plan if you like your plan” amendment to the ACA” – Obama (paraphrased).

Yet you have the temerity to say that I would “sound a lot more intelligent if you stopped flapping that piece of flesh you call lips.”

The ground is swiftly sliding out beneath your feet. You won the election, let’s see if you can hang on to it. Even Obama’s strongest supporters are betraying him because they weren’t his friends to begin with. They were only aligned because they believe it brought them votes. Instead, they were just supported by the greatest number of uninformed people – like yourself.

I know you won’t listen to me. Don’t listen to me. Just watch what happens next. Your days are numbered. You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting.

    • Terry Ryan says:

” Keyboard Kommando Terry Ryan – do you really think your hyper-aggressive nitpicking and confrontational writing style wins arguments?”

You talking to me or Matt Walsh? You do realize I was using his style against him, don’t you? Oh wait, that was lost on you, wasn’t it?

“Your entire first comment is like a child’s taunt – “Obama’s rubber and Matt Walsh is glue, if Matt calls Obama a liar it bounces off him and sticks to you!” ”

Wow, not very good with the reading comprehension, are you? Let me baby talk it for you.

      Matt Walsh either:

      1) ACTUALLY believes that the president promised eternal unchanging insurance, in which case Matt Walsh is a moron. Is he a moron? It’s possible, but I suspect not.

      2) Is only PRETENDING that he believes that the president promised eternal unchanging insurance (pretending to be a moron) in order to advance an ideological line of horse crap, i.e. play “gotcha” politics that Matt Walsh cultists like yourself (actual morons) will gobble up like a Bukakke actress.

Now let’s see….which one of those is more plausible. I’ll have to think on it.

“f you can’t admit that Obama is a liar, then you are obviously the type of cult member Matt is talking about, and as long as you continue to deny reality your comments cannot be taken seriously.”

Awwww, look at you with your circular logic thinking you just actually made a substantive point. You’re just about the most precious thing I’ve seen all day. So, if I don’t agree with Matt Walsh’s thesis about “Obama cultists”, then it proves I’m an Obama cultist? Where’d you learn such feeble reasoning? Circle Jerk University?

Look, I can use retarded circular logic too!: Tidemonster, if you don’t agree with me that people who disagree with me are Matt Walsh cultists, that proves you’re a Matt Walsh cultist! Wow! Now I’m just as intellectually vapid as you! Yee haw! I never knew how liberating it was to be a boastful ignoramus! Thanks for showing me the way, Tidemonster!

Well done. The largest parody to cultism is the love and worship of an ideal which is often the foundation of a cult. An idea personified as reality while disregarding all other ideals. This makes realistic barriers invisible putting followers in harms way.

  20. Casey Ming says:

Didn’t Obama also promise to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term?

    • Ya and he did… Many people think that “deficit=debt” deficit=amount more you spend vs take in; a trade deficit for example is the amount of goods we export vs import. If we import more than we export than we have a trade deficit.

The deficit has been cut in half.

  21. And you were doing so well until the anti abortion diatribe which screams replublican. You can deny it all you want but you are far from progressive. Your ignorance of abortion and how important it is in this shitty overpopulated world tells me a lot about you. Yes, often those who are ‘won’t somebody please think of the children that aren’t even born yet and aren’t even babies yet’ brigade will also share the same ignorance on most PROGRESSIVE ideologies. Not a republican my left foot!

You’re slight whine about higher welfare spending was a good hint too. God forbid we look after those hitting on hard times or disabled or ill! No, we must keep all our money to ourselves! 25. Paul says:

Dear People Complaining About How America Is Turning Into A “Tyranny”:

Leave. It’s simple. Get the fuck out. Nobody’s going to miss you, and we’re tired of paying for roads, schools, social programs (you know the average welfare recipient in America is white, right?) Medicare, and defense for people who “don’t believe in government.”

Every once in awhile, some Bible-thumping lunatic in Colorado or Texas will introduce some ridiculous motion to their state Congress to “secede from the Union.” DO IT. PLEASE. But, much to my chagrin, they’re NEVER serious: it’s the equivalent of a six-year-old threatening to run away from home. They’re doing it for attention, and they’ll be back in an hour.

Glenn Beck, a certified lunatic, threatened to go Galt a few months back and create his own “commune” where the “makers” could be freed from the tyranny of the “takers.” Although, funny story: GlennBeckistan would still be in Texas, where it would still benefit from American infrastructure and defense. If that pudgy kook actually had the courage of his convictions, he’d move GlennBeckistan to Somalia or Burma or Brunei. But, he’s not going to.

We all have our fantasies; my own personal nirvana would be to see everyone who goes apeshit about how “AMERICA IS TURNING INTO A DICTATORSHIP” actually renounce their citizenship and try to live in another country. Although, here’s the problem: any other country in the world worth living in has socialized medicine and nationalized education. Plus, I’ve got friends from Finland and Norway, and those countries are actually pretty selective about who they let in (and the languages are difficult-and we know how you all feel about people who don’t speak English).

So, it’s going to be Latin America for you (I know you’re all thinking Canada, but again, there’s that pesky ‘socialized medicine’ bit-plus you MIGHT HAVE TO LEARN FRENCH! And, after awhile, they’ll get tired of the drain that all those American ‘illegal aliens’ are putting on their social services). And, honestly, nothing would say ‘justice’ like watching a bunch of hysterical red-staters crammed into ghettoes in Mexico City, Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro: being glared at in public, having to take menial jobs (your socioeconomic status in the US will be completely meaningless-it doesn’t matter if you were a surgeon or an airline pilot before), and, in the likely event nobody will hire you, having to turn to “government aid”…hopefully your “host country” will HAVE a government. In any event, you will work harder than you ever have in your life for less money than you thought possible.

And, my prediction is that, if this day ever comes, everybody who ever screamed about ‘The Evil Federal Government’ is going to be standing on the southern US border with their John Deere cap in their hand, begging to be let back in.

    So go. Nobody’s stopping you.

  26. Paul says:

For everyone screaming “OBAMA LIED!”, I’ve got three things to say:

    “Mission Accomplished”

Although, in all fairness, Ronald Reagan was most likely already senile when he testified at the Iran-Contra hearings…

We’re talking about THIS president, NOW. Did you even read the article, you fucking half-wit?

  27. viking799 says:

Hey Matt, thank you for this. I actually learned a lot. Man, you get a lot of crap for what you write but hopefully it’s worth it by making some other feel like less of an underdog because of all the oppression they will get from the people that don’t agree with them.

  28. “…For over five years you’ve danced on the sidelines and cheered as the most dishonest, manipulative, destructive, narcissistic, incompetent, corrupt, liberty-hating, anti-constitutional president in US history”

I am a democrat who is not an Obama fan, but that is quite the stretch… There have been presidents more corrupt and manipulative than Obama, Nixon for example. As for incompetence, Carter definitely beats Obama there. Andrew Jackson was far more destructive than any other president, it is hard to beat the Trail of Tears.

Liberty-Hating? Obama does not have a good record when it comes to civil liberty, but GW Bush did far more to attack civil liberties than the current president, from enhanced interrogation, to the Patriot Act. Historically many presidents allowed slavery to happen, and Woodrow Wilson created many things, such as the Pledge of Allegiance, and allowed for segregation to be further implemented in the South.

The biggest reason Obama is being called “liberty hating”, is because his governments incompetence has allowed for Top Secret programs to be leaked which have been going on since the patriot act. The PRISM surveillance program for example, started in 2007 under Bush. Ya Obama allowed it to continue, but he did not start it.

    • Cylar says:

Yeah, yeah. Bush. We get it.

The article stated at the very beginning that we’re here to talk about THIS president, NOW. Are you having trouble with reading comprehension?

This is why I can’t stand you liberal types. You can’t stay on topic.

  29. “No president has expanded the Welfare State more than this one.”

That is simply not true… there have been republicans (Eisenhower) who expanded the welfare state more than Obama. A chart of welfare spending in the US as a function of time can be found here http://www.usgovernmentspending.com/welfare_spending in fact welfare spending has been decreasing in the last few years.

  30. Roger Cain says:
